New multi-use Fixed-Base Operator facility in Northeast Airport Development is second project since development area opened in 2023
Hamilton, ON (October 24, 2024) – John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (Hamilton International or the Airport) was pleased to host industry partners and community stakeholders for a groundbreaking ceremony today to celebrate the newest land development at the Airport as Biddle Carson Developments unveiled its construction plans for a new, multi-use Fixed-Base Operator (FBO) facility.
Located at the Airport’s northeast end, the 100,000 square foot facility will feature three separate state-of-the-art hangars, designed to incorporate an array of premium services from a lounge and conference room to a second-floor observation deck for viewing aircraft arrivals and departures. The facility will have access to the airfield through Hamilton International’s newest taxiway, Taxiway Foxtrot, and road access via a recently constructed roadway, Aviation Drive.
Biddle Carson Developments has already secured two tenants for the hangar space with private aircraft charter, FlyXcite, occupying 30,000 square feet and bespoke helicopter and fixed wing completion specialists, Aerofina Aviation, occupying 20,000 square feet. The third 50,000 square foot hangar is scheduled to be available for occupancy within the next two years. A phased approach to construction will see the first phase of the facility expected to be completed in late 2025.
“We are delighted to welcome Biddle Carson Developments, and both FlyXcite and Aerofina Aviation, as they take flight at one of Canada’s premier airports for development, Hamilton International,” said Cole Horncastle, Executive Managing Director for the Airport. “This second development less than one year since opening the Northeast Airport Development underscores how Hamilton International is providing solutions for partners looking for high-quality commercial space, and positions Hamilton International as a continued driver of investment, innovation and business growth in the City of Hamilton.”
“Biddle Carson Developments is extremely excited to be taking off on our next adventure with Hamilton International,” said Brooke Hayward, Chief Operating Officer, 214 Carson Co. Inc., on behalf of Biddle Carson Developments. “Our desire to invest in the Hamilton Region will enhance the accessibility and convenience of air travel, as well as provide our aviation partners with a world class facility and ultimate amenities.”
“The new Hamilton Airport FBO is a significant milestone for Biddle Carson Developments, showcasing our commitment to building quality infrastructure that fuels local growth,” said Scott Biddle, Co-President of Biddle Carson Developments. “We’re excited about how this facility will position Hamilton as a key destination in Canada’s aviation landscape, making travel smoother for both business and leisure travelers. Partnering with our flagship tenants, FlyXcite and Aerofina Aviation – global leaders in aircraft innovation – adds tremendous value to this project, and we’re proud to work alongside them to bring this vision to life.”
The new FBO will provide a positive boost to operations at Hamilton International and the local economy, creating highly skilled jobs, attracting complimentary aviation-related operations and enhancing tourism with increased passenger traffic.
