Waiting for your flight can sometimes feel like a daunting task, whether you’re excited to start your vacation, see loved ones, or begin a new adventure, there are still things to do at an Airport to not only help your wait go by more quickly, but to actually make your Airport visit… enjoyable!
And that’s where we come in. At John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport, we’re known for creating a positive passenger experience. By working with our great partners, we take pride in the services, amenities and overall experience we provide to our passengers.
To show what we mean, we’ve compiled a list of some of the top things to do while you wait for your next flight; but most importantly, we invite you to sit back, relax and enjoy the ease and convenience of travel that is Hamilton International.
If you’re early…
If you arrive before screening opens, grab a coffee or snack pre-security at Tim’s; but don’t forget to finish your soup, beverage or other liquid items prior to going through screening!
If you’re really early…
If you’re really early for your flight and have already checked in with your airline, you can use your same-day boarding pass for free admission to the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, located on Airport property.
Worked up an appetite?
Once you’re through screening, take advantage of some additional food and beverage options available in the boarding lounge:
- Tim Hortons – serving a partial menu of beverages and baked goods; open approximately one hour before departure time
- J&A’s Bar – offering beer, wine and pizza
- Departures Retail – enjoy a selection of ‘grab and go’ salads, sandwiches, treats and beverages
Shop ‘till you drop!
Forgot something? Not to worry! Departures Retail provides a wide variety of convenience items for those last-minute necessities.
Flying internationally? Hamilton International Duty Free is open during the winter months, offering an extensive selection of spirits, liquors and fragrances.
Get artsy…
You may have noticed throughout your travels that many airports use their terminal building to showcase their local community and culture – in other words, a ‘Sense of Place’. This could be anything from paintings to statues, murals or photos, so long as it helps create an authentic atmosphere for passengers. At Hamilton International we are no exception to the rule! Enjoy local works of art found throughout the terminal building that reflect the beauty of the Greater Hamilton Area.
Fun for the whole family…
If you’re travelling with kids, stop by the children’s play area found in the boarding lounge. Even our youngest passengers can enjoy some activities and entertainment before their flight!
Sit back and relax…
Hamilton International has added new comfy lounge furniture, equipped with more places for you to plug-in. With free WIFI service you can stay connected throughout your entire visit!
And just like that… it’s time to board! We hope you enjoy your flight from Hamilton International!

It’s too bad YHM doesn’t have an observation deck/lounge to watch arriving and departing aircraft.
Are there self-serve kiosks where we can print our boarding passes?
Thanks for your inquiry! If you are flying with WestJet, self-serve kiosks are available in the terminal building check-in area.

my flight is at 6 am — what time does the tims post security open?
Hi Caitlin, thanks for your comment. Tim Horton’s location post-security will be open at that time. They open when screening opens. Thanks for flying out of Hamilton International.
I’m flying to Montreal at 9:40…is it necessary to be there 2 hours for domestic flight ? It doesn’t take me that long at Toronto airport so can’t imagine I need 2 hours to get through security at Hamilton airport…I don’t have to check in any baggage and have already checked in online.
Hi Chris,
With regards to check-in times it’s best to check with your airline. Each airline closes their check-in prior to boarding. More information can be found using the link below. Anything else you need please don’t hesitate to contact us.
