According to your media release WestJet only flies to Calgary every day. What happened to Moncton, Halifax and Winnipeg? Did they cancel them?
Dear Sue,
Thank you for your inquiry. WestJet will continue daily flights to Moncton, Halifax, Winnipeg, Calgary and Edmonton throughout the summer season. As in previous seasons, at the beginning of November WestJet’s service will switch to its winter schedule, continuing daily flights to Calgary, with the addition of weekly service to Cancun, Punta Cana and Orlando.
Thanks again and hope to see you flying from Hamilton this summer!
Hello:
Why can’t we get Porter, Rouge and Encore flying from Hamilton Airport. How about some flights to South Carolina and New Orleans rather than having to fly from Buffalo Airport?
I can’t believe this airport hasn’t grown more than it has in the past decade. The location is much more convenient to service people west of Toronto (Burlington, Oakville, Hamilton). Personally I always fly Hamilton if the opportunity presents itself, but the lack of flights in and out to key destinations in the states or abroad leads me always back to Pearson. Something needs to be done to put the Hamilton airport back on the map, divert 5% of traffic from Pearson and stick it to that airport with their overblown taxes. Why is the government trying to build a new airport in Pickering to relieve congestion at Pearson when we have an existing airport here. Pump some money into it.
Hi Gary,
Thanks for your post and for choosing Hamilton International when you can.
We agree that there is a huge potential for our Airport to grow and serve the west Toronto market, as well as Hamilton, Niagara, Brantford and surrounding areas. We are focused and working hard to grow Airport services for the community.
This January, we received $8m in funding from both the Ontario and federal government to develop a cargo facility at the Airport. Although this funding is not for passenger services, it will allow us to increase our cargo operations and create jobs for our community.
As we continue to grow and develop our passenger operations we certainly see our facility adapting to fit increased demand. It’s anticipated that capacity at the existing airports in Hamilton, Pearson and Waterloo will be met by 2027, and a new airport in Pickering would then be needed.
Thank you for your support and we hope to see you flying from Hamilton International soon!
Thanks for the response. You have a diamond in the rough with this airport. I think it’s fantastic. City Councillors need to get their heads out of the sand and do something to make this airport the gatwick to heathrow. So much potential, so little action by our politicians. Good luck
Are there any flights to Myrtle Beach in October?
Thank you for your feedback and suggestions.
Through regular communication with several air carriers, Hamilton International is always looking for ways to increase routes offerings for its passengers and is committed to a specific strategy to grow air service.
Thanks again for your interest in Hamilton International and hope to see you flying from Hamilton soon!
Daily Service is needed to the United States. Hamilton Airport has alot of potential but Airlines for some reason don’t come. What is the Airport Management doing to attract Air Carriers to Hamilton.
It would also be nice to have Montreal back on the Map.
Thanks for your question! Others have had similar feedback regarding air service development, please see our comments above. We are always looking for ways to work with our airline partners to enhance service from Hamilton International. Hope to see you flying from YHM soon!
Perhaps reasons such as zero service for passengers at YHM play a role as to why airlines are hesitant to add service…like westjet or other airlines…example..what logic could be behind turning a full service restaurant into airport administration offices???Really???now we only have two Tim Hortons to service??no restaurant and no bar????just recently got television monitors at boarding gates and zero jetways????Perhaps it’s the airport that needs to upgrade, make changes and get their priorities into customer services to get the airlines to add service to YHM…The people are there, but we need services…..
Dear Mr. Thomas,
Thank you for your feedback.
The team at John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport is continually working toward updating our facility and providing our passengers with quality amenities and customer service.
In 2012, the Airport administration office was moved to the Terminal Building to do just that – be closer to our passengers and provide a higher quality of service.
With existing passenger volumes and service levels a full service restaurant is not sustainable. As a result we have shifted our focus toward providing quick, grab and go food and beverage options for our passengers. It is certainly our goal to increase these offerings for our passengers at the earliest possible opportunity.
Some of the other upgrades that have been made to the Airport over the course of the past year include a complete Airport rebranding, including updated signage, renovated restroom facilities, the introduction of free WIFI, as well as more lounge seating pre and post-security to increase ease and comfort for our passengers.
With all that being said we are proud to report record breaking satisfaction scores for 2012 with 92% of passengers who rate the Airport as excellent or good and 95% of passengers who are very likely or likely to recommend Hamilton International.
We are proud of these statistics and will continue to strive toward operational excellence for our passengers and business partners alike.
We hope to see you flying from Hamilton International soon.
YHM is a gold mine for local and nearby communities to fly from. Flights to Myrtle Beach, Florida, California, Caribbean and select American cities would work well, even if these flights were operated on select days. I also think a daily or weekly flight to London Gatwick would work. Shame the City and YHM Management do not push the Federal Government for more traffic rights.
Thanks for your feedback Cam- It would be great to provide our passengers with service to those various destinations. We are always talking to airlines about ways that we can expand the number of routes offered from Hamilton International. Don’t forget to check our winter schedule starting in November with WestJet and December with Transat/Nolitours, HolaSun and Sunwing for weekly service to Orlando, Punta Cana, Los Cabos, Cancun, Montego Bay and Varadero! Thanks again and hope to see you flying from Hamilton soon!
Great news, hope to travel soon.
When do flights begin to Halifax ?
Direct service to Halifax with WestJet will start at the beginning of May and run through to the end of October.
What are the dates of cancellation from Hamilton to Halifax during the winter months. Are there other companies flying during those cancellation dates? I do prefer WestJet. THX
Thanks for your inquiry David. Direct service to Halifax with WestJet is part of the Airport’s summer program, which runs April to end of October. During the winter months, WestJet continues service to Calgary, and begins flights to popular sun destinations. Does WestJet fly to Varadero Cuba?
Thanks for your inquiry! You can fly direct from Hamilton to Varadero with Sunwing or Air Transat.
